Annie Johnson is a seasoned makeup artist who is known for her creativity and versatility.  She is based in New York City, and with over 10 years of experience, specializes in everything from film and television to commercials and editorials. 

 

Her understanding and insight into character and her stunning visual transformations have contributed to successful collaborations with directors such as Sean Baker and Andrew Lawrence, and actors like Mikey Madison, Joey Lawrence, Liza Colón-Zayas, Michael Rispoli, Bobby Cannavale, and the late Anne Heche.

 

Her most recent project is Sean Baker’s 2024 Palme d’Or Award-winning film Anora. Stylistically thrilling, the movie is a modern Cinderella story directed by Sean Baker.  It follows the protagonist, a young Russian American sex worker who is swept out of her everyday life as an erotic dancer by an impetuous, free-spending son of a Russian oligarch.

Anora was the perfect vessel and creative outlet for Annie, as it allowed her to utilize her extensive background in character, beauty and special effects makeup in creating visually memorable characters.
